Coaches are not magicians – Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso hits back at critics
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has lashed out at his critics following the sides’ impressive victory against Remo Stars in the CAF Champions League playoff.
The South African giants kicked off their campaign with a commanding 5-1 victory to take full control ahead of the return clash of the second preliminary round.
Cardoso has had a love-hate relationship with Sundowns supporters in recent times due to the club’s unimpressive performance in the domestic scene.
Before the Champions League clash, a session of the club fans had called for the sacking of the coach
However, Cardoso, high in confidence after his outfit resounding victory in Nigeria has taken a swipe at critics, saying coaches are not magicians.
“Coaches are not magicians, they believe in the players and work with the qualities that they have,” Cardoso said via Kickoff website.
“So, let us know that we are more strong, compact, and try to develop the team to the level where we want to be,” he details.
“Teams like Mamelodi Sundowns are built throughout the year and with a lot of investment in gathering the best players, working with them and always recruiting and recruiting,” he added.
The South African giants are expected to host Remo Stars in the return fixture of the Champions League on Friday in Pretoria.
