CAF Champions League: Nouadhibou and Stade Malien set for high-stakes clash

FC Nouadhibou host Stade Malien de Bamako in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, as two of West Africa’s most ambitious clubs go head-to-head in what promises to be a fiercely contested encounter.

The Mauritanian champions, managed by Francisco Javier Lopez Castro, will look to take advantage of home support in Nouadhibou before the return leg in Bamako.

Both sides enter the tie with the aim of advancing to the group stage of Africa’s most prestigious club competition.

Nouadhibou have named an experienced starting eleven, led by captain Yassin Cheikh Elwely.

Goalkeeper Diop Babacar takes his place between the posts, shielded by a defensive line of Mamadou Salia Sacko, Mohamed Sarr, and Sidi Ahmed Mohamed El Abd.

In midfield, Ousmane Faye, Hawbott Mohamed Lemine, and Mohamed Ramdane Zweide will look to dictate the tempo, while forward Kartier Dembele leads the attack.
