Morocco’s U17 women’s national team endured a tough start to their 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup journey, falling 3-0 to Brazil in their opening Group Stage match.

The game, played at the Stade Olympique de Rabat on Friday, saw the South Americans dominate from start to finish. Andreyna Evelin opened the scoring in the 12th minute before Giovanna Waksman doubled Brazil’s advantage in the 35th minute.

Allyne Vithorya sealed the win with a third goal in the 75th minute, leaving Morocco unable to mount a comeback.

Despite Morocco’s disciplined defensive setup and spirited effort, they struggled to contain Brazil’s relentless attacking play. The Atlas Lionesses, who lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, featured Ahlam Boukhareb in goal, with defenders Maryam Rahmoune, Anissa Hamdani, and Imène Diyen. Up front, Dounia El Mesmoudi and Mayssa Baha led the attack.

Brazil, operating in a 3-4-3 system, showcased their trademark attacking flair and clinical finishing to secure all three points.

While the result was disappointing for Morocco, it marks another valuable step in the development of their U17 women’s team on the global stage.

With the tournament being hosted across Morocco, local fans will have more opportunities to rally behind their side as they aim to bounce back in their upcoming group matches against Italy and Costa Rica.
