Zamalek’s new coach Yannick Ferreira is determined to restore pride and positivity, turning to the Confederation Cup as a lifeline for a disappointing season.

As the team prepares for a crucial clash with Somali champions Dekedaha, Ferreira gathered the squad for intensive training sessions, urging players to see this African tournament as their chance to “regain confidence and save the season.”

Ferreira emphasized total focus and effort during a meeting with his players, pointing out the significance of representing Zamalek and the huge responsibility it carries. He believes victory against Dekedaha could kickstart Zamalek’s turnaround.

The club welcomed back key internationals, Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh, Mohamed Ismail, Hossam Abdelmageed, and Mohamed Sobhi, boosting morale before the big match. Midfielder Mohamed El-Sayed added fresh energy after returning from youth team duties, while right back Omar Gaber returned to training following injury. Technically, Ferreira spent extra time refining tactics and fixing past mistakes, aiming to get every detail right.

The club’s historical record against Dekedaha gives Zamalek some confidence, but Ferreira warned against underestimating their rivals, reminding players that “African football never knows the impossible.” The team hopes the Confederation Cup will bring back happiness to their fans and salvage a troubled campaign.
