The chance to play in the Champions League motivated me to join Atalanta - Yunus Musah

American-Ghanaian midfielder Yunus Musah has opened up about the motivation behind his move to Italian outfit Atalanta.

Musah signed for the Bergamo-based club in the summer window on loan from fellow Serie A club AC Milan.

Speaking in an interview with L’Eco di Bergamo, the midfielder said the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League was a huge motivation to join Atalanta.

“As an opponent, I’d always seen Atalanta as a tough and organised team. When the opportunity arose, I thought it was the right place for me. I wanted to develop at a big club, and Atalanta is that. The chance to play in the Champions League was a huge motivation,” Yunus Musah said.

He continued, “I immediately felt great trust from Percassi, D’Amico, and Juric. As soon as I arrived, I understood why Atalanta is so respected in Italy and Europe. Here, we work with dedication, humility, and a spirit of sacrifice. Every player gives their all for their teammates. It’s a positive energy, you feel it every day in training.”

Musah, 22, has this season made four appearances for Atalanta in the Italian Serie A.

He has one assist in two games in the UEFA Champions League.
