Zamalek, one of Egypt’s most celebrated football clubs, has spoken up about its ongoing dispute with former player Ahmed Sayed Zizo.

The club clarified that the delays in Zizo’s contract settlement are not the result of Zamalek’s actions, but rather requests from the Egyptian Football Association to review advertising contracts and related documents. “Zizo owes Zamalek, not the other way around,” said legal advisor Kamal Shaib. “The Football Association requested more paperwork to ensure the club receives its rightful share of advertising earnings.”

The club also refuted claims about an unpaid sum of 82 million pounds to Zizo, affirming that all amounts due have been paid with supporting bank receipts and that his annual salary was less than 40 million pounds. “After calculating advertising revenue and financial penalties, Zizo is indebted to Zamalek,” Shaib stated.

Additionally, Zamalek addressed rumors regarding a land sale in October. The board confirmed they await an official decision to retrieve club land, maintaining all paperwork is in order. “We are optimistic about regaining our land and continuing our future projects for the club,” a spokesman said. The club’s clear response aims to reassure fans and end the speculation.
