French-Algerian legend Zinedine Zidane tipped for romantic Juventus return by Arrigo Sacchi
Legendary Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi has expressed his desire to see Zinedine Zidane make a managerial return with Juventus, a club where the French icon once starred as a player.
Zidane, who hinted at the Trento Sports Festival that he could one day coach the Bianconeri, continues to be linked with several high-profile roles, including the French national team job.
Born in Marseille to Algerian parents, Zidane’s heritage and artistry have long shaped his footballing identity, blending European tactical intelligence with the technical flair often associated with North African football.
His potential return to Juventus would reunite him with the club where he became a global star in the late 1990s before joining Real Madrid.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Sacchi said Zidane’s comeback to Serie A would inject much-needed creativity and elegance into Italian football.
“I ask myself: why isn’t a coach who created such a beauty machine working? I know he wants to be France’s coach, and that’s understandable. As a footballer, he was a hero for his country, leading it first to conquer the world and then Europe,” Sacchi remarked.
The former AC Milan manager praised Zidane’s attacking philosophy and understanding of the game, describing him as a perfect fit for Juventus.
“He was a great Juventus player, he became a champion wearing the black and white shirt, he had a mentor like Marcello Lippi as his coaching mentor… so why not imagine him on the Juventus bench? Not immediately, not now, because that would be disrespectful towards Igor Tudor and his work,” he added.
“I’d love for someone like Zidane, someone who has always prioritized attacking football, someone who believes in team play and talent serving the team, to enter the world of Serie A.
“Our league could only benefit from his presence. And then, Zidane on the Juventus bench would bring a touch of romance that, in contemporary football, is sometimes lacking. Think about it, Zizou.”
