Bilal El Khannouss wins over Stuttgart with breakout season
German club Stuttgart has decided to trigger the purchase clause for Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss, who joined them on loan from Leicester City.
According to Germany’s Bild newspaper, the deal includes a mandatory purchase option worth €18 million, set to be activated automatically once some easily-achievable conditions are met, an outcome Stuttgart managers see as a certainty, given the level El Khannouss is showing.
At just 21, El Khannouss has quickly captured the hearts of Stuttgart fans with his technical brilliance and precise shooting. He’s already netted three goals this season, all with powerful shots placed expertly into the bottom corner, including a match-winner versus Heidenheim.
Initially signed for a €3.5 million loan fee last summer, El Khannouss’ standout performances have convinced the club’s executives that making his stay permanent is the right call.
Currently, he is training with the Moroccan national team ahead of the last World Cup qualifying match, having helped secure a recent win against Bahrain. Rising to prominence at Genk before joining Leicester, El Khannouss is now recognized as one of the brightest young Moroccan talents in Europe.
