Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba seeks Brighton exit in January

Cameroonian international Carlos Baleba plans to leave Brighton in January despite interest from several major European clubs.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who joined the Seagulls with high expectations, has reportedly made a firm decision about his future.

According to Indykaila News, Baleba informed his representatives of his intention to depart during the winter transfer window.

His agent will meet Brighton’s management in November to discuss the terms of a possible move.

This development surprised many, given the midfielder’s growing importance in the squad and his long-term contract.

Sources close to the club suggest Brighton will not let him go easily. The Premier League side values Baleba highly and will demand a significant transfer fee.

Reports from Africasoccer reveal that Brighton placed a price tag exceeding €100 million on the Cameroonian midfielder.

Baleba’s performances have attracted attention from several English clubs, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Liverpool.

Each club sees him as a strong addition to their midfield ranks. However, the high valuation may discourage potential buyers from making a move in January.

Former Cameroonian international Patrick Tchoutang shared his thoughts on Baleba’s future. He believes Liverpool would be the best destination for the young midfielder.

“Liverpool is the club that would best suit Carlos Baleba,” Tchoutang said, highlighting the player’s energy and technical ability as key assets that align with the Reds’ style.

Baleba remains under contract with Brighton until 2028, with an option for an additional year. Despite his long-term deal, the player’s desire for a new challenge appears clear.

Transfermarkt values him at €40 million, but Brighton’s asking price shows the club’s determination to retain him or secure a major profit if he leaves.

Baleba’s decision adds another twist to an already competitive January transfer market. His future now depends on whether any of Europe’s top clubs decide to meet Brighton’s steep demands.
