CAF confirms Cairo as host city for 2025 Super Cup showdown between Pyramids FC and RS Berkane
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup will take place at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday, 18 October 2025.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 20:00 local time (17:00 GMT).
This year’s contest will pit Egyptian side Pyramids FC, winners of the 2024–25 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, against Moroccan side RS Berkane, who lifted the 2024–25 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
It promises to be an enthralling duel between two of the continent’s most consistent clubs in recent years.
The encounter marks a return of the Super Cup to the Egyptian capital for the first time in over a decade, with Cairo last hosting the showpiece event in 2014.
The city’s 30 June Stadium, known for its modern facilities and electric atmosphere, is expected to draw a capacity crowd for what has become one of Africa’s most celebrated football occasions.
Defending champions Zamalek FC, also from Egypt, captured the 2024 edition of the trophy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after defeating arch-rivals Al Ahly.
The shift back to Cairo continues CAF’s strategy of rotating the competition among different host nations to promote its pan-African appeal.
Since its inception in 1993, the CAF Super Cup has crowned 17 different champions.
Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly remain the most successful club in the competition’s history, with eight titles to their name.
Pyramids FC, who will be making their debut in the fixture, aim to add continental silverware to their growing list of achievements, while RS Berkane will be targeting a second triumph after their maiden success in 2022.
CAF confirmed that the winning team will receive USD 500,000, while the runners-up will earn USD 250,000, underscoring the competition’s growing financial and sporting significance on the African football calendar.
