Brandon Thomas-Asante earns late Ghana call-up for last two World Cup qualification matches
England-based Brandon Thomas-Asante has been handed a late Black Stars call-up for Ghana’s last two matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The in-form Coventry City attacker is set to replace striker Inaki Williams, who sustained an injury this weekend during Athletic Club’s 2-1 victory against RCD Mallorca in the Spanish La Liga.
Thomas-Asante’s inclusion comes on the back of a brilliant run of form in the English Championship, where the 25-year-old has been instrumental in Coventry City’s resurgence this season.
The dynamic forward recently stole the headlines with a superb brace in Coventry’s 5–0 demolition of Sheffield Wednesday, adding to his growing reputation as one of the most exciting attackers in the division.
So far this season, Thomas-Asante has netted five goals and provided three assists, underlining his consistency and creativity in front of goal. His recent performances, including strikes against Birmingham and decisive contributions against Millwall, have made him one of the key figures in Frank Lampard’s Coventry setup.
With his versatility, pace, and sharp eye for goal, Thomas-Asante’s addition could prove crucial for Ghana as they face the Central African Republic and Comoros in what are expected to be decisive fixtures in the qualification campaign.
His call-up presents an opportunity for the in-form striker to make his mark on the international stage and help the Black Stars secure their spot at the 2026 World Cup.
