Victor Boniface’s absence from Werder Bremen training generates concern ahead of FC St. Paul game
Victor Boniface was a notable absentee from Werder Bremen’s training ground on Thursday, raising questions among supporters ahead of the team’s clash with FC St. Pauli on Saturday.
The Nigerian striker had taken a painful kick to his foot during Tuesday’s session after a challenge with teammate Julian Malatini but was able to continue and complete training that day.
DeichStube reported that Boniface has since pulled back from full participation, missing the penultimate session before the weekend fixture. His absence quickly drew attention given his growing importance to the squad.
According to Bild, however, there is no reason to panic. “This is a workload management measure, so Boniface should be back very soon,” the outlet stated, easing concerns that the forward might be sidelined long term.
Boniface arrived at Werder Bremen on a season-long loan from Bayer Leverkusen on September 1, the final day of the summer transfer window. The former Bodø/Glimt forward has already made three appearances for Werder this season and is seen as a player capable of making a strong impact.
