The Professional Clubs Association has rolled out a wave of suspensions and fines following the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League, which featured the much-anticipated showdown between Al Ahly and Zamalek.

Al Ahly claimed a 2-1 victory over their rivals at Cairo Stadium, but the headlines were soon dominated by disciplinary measures. The league confirmed that Al Ahly’s Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet and Zamalek’s Abdallah El-Said were both suspended for one match and fined 5,000 Egyptian pounds for accumulating three yellow cards.

Despite heated chants in the stands and a controversial gesture from Hussein El Shahat toward Juan Alvina, the association chose not to impose further sanctions. Al Ahly’s win pushed them to 15 points, two behind leaders Zamalek, setting the stage for another competitive weekend.

The disciplinary list extended beyond the Cairo derby. Players from El Mokawloon, Ismailia Electricity, ZFC, Haras El Hodoud, Al Masry, Tala’ea El Gaish, Pharco, Modern Sport, Smouha, and El Gouna also received suspensions and fines for yellow cards, red cards, and misconduct.

Round ten begins Friday, with Smouha hosting Ismaily at Borg El Arab Stadium.
