UCL: Dortmund counting on lethal Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy to beat Athletic Club
Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy has been named in the Borussia Dortmund squad for their UEFA Champions League clash against Athletic Club in midweek.
The German club will be counting on the lethal forward to bang in the goals to lead the team to victory.
Dortmund head into the clash at Signal Iduna Park still searching for their first win in the league phase of the 2025/26 Champions League after a dramatic 4-4 draw with Juventus on matchday one.
Guirassy, who has established himself as a lethal presence in front of goal, will be central to Niko Kovac’s plans as the team looks to collect maximum points at home.
According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the 19-man Dortmund squad for the encounter includes Kobel, Meyer, Anton, Schlotterbeck, Süle, Svensson, Bensebaini, Couto, Ryerson, Nmecha, Bellingham, Chukwuemeka, Sabitzer, Groß, Brandt, Adeyemi, Beier, Guirassy, and Silva.
There are no major surprises in the squad list, though Kovac will be without the injured trio of Anselmino, Can, and Duranville. Drewes and Özcan are also unavailable, having not been registered for the Champions League’s league phase, while several youth players, including Ostrzinski, Mane, Kabar, and Campbell, have also not been selected.
The encounter between Dortmund and Athletic Club will kick off at 7 pm.
