South African forward Wandile Duba opens up on challenges being Kaizer Chiefs striker

South African international Wandile Duba has opened up on the challenges being a striker of Kaizer Chiefs.

The 21-year-old attacker has been dropped to the bench, having struggled with goalscoring in the current football campaign. Duba played in the opening four games of the season for the Soweto giants before he was completely relegated to the bench.

Duba has yet to feature in the last four games for Kaizer Chiefs. However, the forward has described the situation as typical for a striker at Amakhosi when you don’t score.

“Being a Kaizer Chiefs striker is not easy because not scoring for two games is a big issue, because you know how our fans are,” Duba told journalists at Naturena.

“If you don’t score, you go out. Even for the coaches,” says Duba, whose drive to win has always been an obvious attribute of his game.

“I play for Kaizer Chiefs, I don’t play for just playing a match,” he added.

This season, the 21-year-old attacker has only managed an assists in five appearances of the South African premier League.
