Fruitful meeting between CAR President Touadéra and FIFA President Infantino in New York
On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Central African Republic (CAR) President Faustin Archange Touadéra held a high-level meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino to discuss the future of football in the country.
Discussions centred on the transformation of football in the Central African Republic, particularly the transition from an amateur setup to a professional league, and the introduction of a super league.
These reforms fall in line with President Touadéra’s commitment to reviving the game, guided by the vision “Fini Légue, Fini Kodè,” introduced by Central African Football Federation (FCF) President Célestin Yanindji.
Infantino reiterated FIFA’s support for ongoing development projects in CAR, including the Football for Schools initiative and the Talent Development Scheme.
Notable achievements already in progress include the near completion of the women’s technical centre named in honour of President Touadéra and the fully operational Kaïmba Blasco Technical Centre in Gbangouma.
In addition, FIFA has committed to building a state-of-the-art 40,000-seater stadium in the country.
The Central African government has further strengthened its partnership with FIFA by allocating land near Mboko for the federation’s use, underlining its dedication to football as a tool for unity and national pride.
This landmark meeting signals a turning point for football in the Central African Republic, as the nation works to establish sustainable structures, empower young talents, and bring professional standards to its domestic game.
