Jerome Boateng opens door to coaching journey after Vincent Kompany invitation

Jerome Boateng is beginning a new chapter in football, shifting from playing on the pitch to shaping the game from the sidelines.

The former world champion made his first steps toward this dream by appearing at Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match at the Allianz Arena, just days after announcing his retirement.

His visit was not only nostalgic but also forward-looking, as Bayern coach Vincent Kompany opened the door for him to start a coaching traineeship. Boateng’s reply was immediate and full of excitement: “I heard that, I need to call him now.”

The 37-year-old defender has already expressed his desire to study the methods of top coaches such as Hansi Flick, Patrick Vieira, and Kompany himself. At Bayern’s press conference, Kompany confirmed he would gladly welcome his old friend in an observational role, stressing that official staffing decisions remain private.

For Bayern, Boateng’s years of experience as a world-class center-back and international champion could bring unique insight to daily training, while for Boateng, it marks the beginning of an inspiring new journey.
