Al Ahly are facing difficult hurdles as they push forward in talks with Portuguese coach Bruno Lage to take charge of the team.

The Red Devils, under the leadership of president Mahmoud El Khatib, have identified the former Benfica manager as a strong candidate to succeed Emad El Nahhas, who is currently serving on an interim basis.

A club source told Kooora that discussions with Lage are advanced, but two major issues threaten to stall progress. Al Ahly have offered the coach 270,000 euros, yet he is holding firm on his demand for an annual salary of 4 million euros alongside extra perks.

The source also revealed that Lage is asking for a penalty clause that would see him collect the full remainder of his contract if dismissed. This condition has caused further concern for Al Ahly’s management, who are seeking a balanced deal.

For now, the decision rests with Lage’s agent, who continues to negotiate terms. Meanwhile, El Nahhas guides the side after Jose Riveiro’s exit.
