Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club are reportedly weighing a change in the dugout, with South African tactician Pitso Mosimane emerging as the leading candidate.

The Casablanca-based side are currently led by Mohamed Amine Benhachem, who stepped in following the dismissal of Rulani Mokwena late last season.

Mokwena, who lasted close to a year in charge, was relieved of his duties shortly before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.

Benhachem oversaw Wydad’s campaign at the global tournament, where the team endured a difficult run, losing all three group-stage matches against Manchester City, Juventus, and Al Ain FC.

On the domestic front, Wydad have collected four points from their opening two fixtures, sitting sixth in the Botola Pro League with a win and a draw.

However, their 1-1 stalemate with newly promoted US Yacoub El Mansour is said to have sparked concern among club officials.

According to multiple reports, the board is now exploring alternatives, with Mosimane viewed as the prime target should they opt to part ways with Benhachem.

The former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach has been unattached since leaving Iranian outfit Esteghlal FC in January.
