Hugo Ekitike unfazed by €95 million price tag, vows to focus on football
French forward of Cameroonian descent, Hugo Ekitike, has reacted to the ongoing discussion about the price Liverpool paid to secure his signing.
The striker sealed a move to the English Premier League outfit in the summer, with his former club, Eintracht Frankfurt, pocketing a sum of €95 million.
Despite his instant form at his new club, analysts in recent times have criticised the money Liverpool paid for Ekitike.
Responding to the debate, Hugo Ekitike made it clear that his only concern is delivering on the pitch.
“I don’t care. I’m just focused on football. People can say what they want. The price is what it is. Football has changed. What do you do with a big transfer? You play football,” he told Canal+.
The young striker further emphasised that his priority is to perform consistently, block out external noise, and prove his worth through his displays for Liverpool.
Ekitike, 23, has this season scored three goals and provided one assist after making five appearances in the English Premier League for Liverpool.
