‘Nicolas Jackson doesn’t see himself going back to Chelsea’ – Agent
Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson is determined to make his spell at Bayern Munich permanent, with his agent revealing the Senegal forward “does not see himself returning to Chelsea” despite the club’s contractual conditions.
The 24-year-old Senegal international joined Bayern on deadline day for a loan fee of €16.5 million after being forced out by Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who had already sealed deals for Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
The Bundesliga champions have an obligation to sign him permanently for €65 million only if he starts 40 games, but with Harry Kane as first-choice striker, Jackson is expected to feature mainly as a back-up.
Now, Jackson’s agent, former Senegal international Diomansy Kamara, has made clear that his client’s focus is on thriving in Munich rather than fulfilling the 40-match clause. Speaking to Canal+ Sport, Kamara said:
“Today at Chelsea, the relationship with (Enzo) Maresca isn’t necessarily the best… Nico’s objective isn’t to play 40 matches. If he scores 15 goals by December, they’re not going to say, ‘Play 40 matches.’ He doesn’t see himself returning to Chelsea.”
Kamara added that Bayern remains “a priority for a very long time” for Jackson, whose performances will determine whether a full transfer is triggered regardless of appearances.
Chelsea appear to have effectively severed ties with the striker, leaving him to impress new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany to secure a permanent switch. The Senegalese forward scored 17 goals in all competitions for Chelsea last season and is targeting a strong start in the Bundesliga to force Bayern’s hand.
