Malian midfielder Kissima Coulibaly aims high after joining Ethnikos Latsion
Malian midfielder Kissima Coulibaly has set his sights on helping Ethnikos Latsion fight for promotion to Cyprus’ top division after sealing a move to the newly promoted second-tier side.
The 23-year-old, who previously played for MEAP Pera Choriou Nisou, confirmed that several clubs approached him this summer but Ethnikos Latsion’s ambitions and offer convinced him to take on the challenge.
I had a good season with MEAP Pera Choriou Nisou, even though I arrived during the second phase of the championship. I took part in eight matches… This summer, I was approached by several clubs and I signed for Ethnikos Latsion. First of all, it’s a good team, they have the ambition to return to the top flight of Cypriot football. The team was champion of the 3rd division last season. The offer they made me is good compared to the other contenders and I accepted the challenge, Coulibaly explained.
Known for his versatility, the former US Bougouba player can operate across midfield and is expected to bring both energy and tactical balance to his new team.
Ethnikos Latsion, who earned promotion as third division champions last season, are determined to make an immediate impact in the second tier and aim for a swift return to the country’s elite competition.
Coulibaly, who has also played in the United Arab Emirates for Fürsan Hispania and Regional Sports, acknowledged the challenges ahead but believes in the squad’s collective strength.
I’m changing clubs, so I’m joining a new squad, and first of all, I have to try to establish myself. My goal is to play as many minutes as possible in each match and give the best of myself. Afterwards, we’ll fight together to try to achieve our common goals, that is, promotion to the elite league and why not the league title, he said.
While committed to the present, the Malian midfielder also spoke about his long-term ambitions.
A move to Cyprus is another step in his journey, but he dreams of reaching Europe’s most competitive leagues.
Cypriot football is of a good standard, but I dream of playing in the biggest European leagues (England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, etc.). To succeed in this challenge, I would have to have a good time in Cyprus, first under the colors of Ethnikos Latsion, Coulibaly added.
As he begins this new chapter, Coulibaly’s determination to establish himself at Ethnikos Latsion reflects both his personal ambitions and the club’s desire to push beyond expectations in Cypriot football.
