Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman to be integrated into Atalanta squad after international break
Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman is set to rejoin his Atalanta teammates after the September international break, ahead of the resumption of club football.
According to Atalanta correspondent Alessandro Giovanni Pagliarini, Lookman will return to the club’s Zingonia training base between Thursday and Friday.
He is expected to resume full training with the group ahead of the clash with Lecce, though it remains uncertain whether he will be included in the matchday squad immediately.
Fitness should not be a major concern for the London-born winger, who featured prominently for Nigeria during the recent World Cup qualifiers. He played 75 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Rwanda before completing the full match in the 1-1 draw with South Africa.
Lookman endured a frustrating summer transfer window after failing to secure a move away from Atalanta despite strong interest from several top clubs.
The 27-year-old was heavily linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur, while Chelsea and Aston Villa were also reported suitors.
In total, up to seven Premier League clubs were said to be tracking him.
