Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson says he holds no grudge against Chelsea boss after Bayern switch

Senegalese striker Nicolas Jackson has made clear he harbours no ill feelings toward Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca after sealing a late move to Bayern Munich.

The forward completed a deadline-day transfer on Monday, joining the German champions on a loan-to-buy agreement that ended his short but eventful stint in London.

Jackson, who signed for Chelsea in 2023 from Villarreal, told Italian outlet Tuttosport that football is a game of cycles, and his departure was simply part of that natural process.

“Football is full of cycles. Sometimes things don’t go as they should, and that’s part of the game,” he said.

Reflecting on his relationship with Maresca, Jackson spoke with respect despite suggestions that tensions had contributed to his exit.

“I respect coach Maresca, I learned a lot from him, he has his own ideas and style. I just needed something different at this stage of my career. I have no regrets, just gratitude for my time at Chelsea,” the Senegal international added.

Reports in England suggested Chelsea had initially resisted Bayern’s push for a deal, but Jackson insisted he remained calm throughout negotiations.

“Honestly, my advisors and I were very confident. I never doubted that I would sign with Bayern, so I took the situation philosophically,” he explained.

The 24-year-old, who scored key goals during a turbulent season at Stamford Bridge, emphasised his outlook beyond football. “I’m in good health, as are my loved ones, and I’m lucky to be a professional footballer. Nothing else matters.”
