2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria Super Eagles touch down in South Africa ahead of crucial clash

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have arrived in Bloemfontein, South Africa, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash with Bafana Bafana on Tuesday, September 9.

The Nigerian delegation touched down with 22 players, accompanied by the technical team and administrative staff.

The only absentee from the squad is star striker Victor Osimhen, who picked up a chin injury during Saturday’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rwanda in Uyo.

The team is scheduled to hold their official training session at the Toyota Stadium on Monday at 6:00 pm local time (5:00 pm Nigeria time) as preparations intensify for the high-stakes encounter.

Then on Tuesday, September 9, the Super Eagles will lock horns with the Bafana Bafana in a must-win game to keep hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alive.

With South Africa also looking to tighten their grip on the top of the standings, the Bafana Bafana are expected to give their all in search of the three points.
