Morocco arrive in Zambia after sealing historic 2026 World Cup Qualification

The Moroccan national team touched down in Zambia on Saturday ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Chipolopolo on Monday.

The Atlas Lions made the trip just hours after dismantling Niger 5-0 at Rabat’s Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Friday night, a result that mathematically secured their ticket to the global showpiece.

Morocco, now on 18 points, became the first African side to book a place at the 2026 World Cup.

Walid Regragui’s men sit eight points clear of nearest challengers Tanzania with two matches to spare.

Despite qualification already in the bag, the North Africans are determined to maintain their momentum.

Head coach Regragui praised his squad’s discipline after the Niger win but insisted the team must meet elevated expectations.

“In the past, people were happy with a draw if it meant qualification,” the coach said. “Now the standard is different — we are expected to win every game.”

Morocco face Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola, with kick-off set for 13:00 GMT.
