Gilles Christian Ngnize announces Candidacy against Samuel Eto’o in Fecafoot election

Gilles Christian Ngnize has officially declared his intention to run for the presidency of the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot), positioning himself as a challenger to current president Samuel Eto’o.

Ngnize, 46, made his announcement during a press conference in Douala on Wednesday, presenting himself as the figure capable of bringing change to Cameroonian football after a turbulent period under Eto’o’s leadership.

A former marketing director within the Cameroon Professional Football League, Ngnize is campaigning on a platform of transparency, ethics, and unity.

“Passion has turned into divisions; stadium revenues are negotiated in backrooms,” he said. “This is not our project. Financial resources must be managed rigorously to honor our commitments and ensure players are fully involved in the process.”

The aspiring candidate has pledged to focus on developing football structures, nurturing local talent, and elevating domestic competitions. His remarks signaled a clear intention to distance himself from the controversies and internal disputes that have marked Eto’o’s time in office.
