'No bad blood with Donnarumma after Club World Cup injury' - German-Nigerian star Jamal Musiala

Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala says he holds no ill will towards Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma after their collision in the Club World Cup left him with a serious injury.

Musiala, who was born in Germany to a Nigerian father and has chosen to represent the German national team, suffered a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle when he clashed with Donnarumma during Bayern’s meeting with Paris Saint-Germain.

The 22-year-old has since been sidelined, but insists he does not blame the Manchester City goalkeeper for the incident.

“He looked for the ball, it wasn’t intentional,” Musiala told BILD. “He texted me straight away, saying everything’s fine. These things happen in football.”

The highly rated midfielder has been forced into a long rehabilitation period, and admits watching Bayern from the sidelines has been a test of patience.

“Watching my teammates from the stands is painful,” he said. “I already know that when I return, I’ll do what I love. It’s my daily motivation.”

Musiala, who played a key role in Germany’s European Championship campaign, stressed that he is determined to return only when fully recovered.

“I want to return to the pitch when I’m truly ready,” he explained. “There’s no point in rushing. The important thing is to be fully fit, especially with the World Cup in mind.”

Bayern continue to monitor Musiala’s progress closely, with the expectation that he will be eased back into action later in the season.
