Como has opened up on the departure of England international of Nigeria descent Dele Alli from the club this summer.

The former Tottenham Hotspur star is currently a free agent following contract termination with the Italian outfit. Despite the closure of the window, Alli is eligible to find himself a new club.

He joined Como during the January transfer window and struggled to establish himself as key cog to the team.

Despite having a contract until 2026 summer, both parties reached a consensus to sever ties, with the midfielder said not to be in the plans of head coach Cesc Fàbregas’ plans

“Dele is eager to get regular playing time, and since he was not in the club’s immediate plans, both sides felt it was right to part ways before the transfer window closed. The club thanks Dele for his time at Como and wishes him all the best for the future,” reads the Como statement.

Since departing Tottenham Hotspur in January 2022, the 29-year-old midfielder has struggled to regain his form after spells in Turkey and Italy.

Alli has 37 appearances for the England national team, scoring two goals across the period.
