German Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg have completed the signing of France-born defender of Congolese descent, Sael Kumbedi.
The club announced the acquisition of the youngster in an official statement on its website on Thursday, August 28.
“VfL Wolfsburg has strengthened its right-back position with Sael Kumbedi (20). The French U21 international joins the club on loan from Ligue 1 Olympique Lyon. The 1.75-meter-tall defender will wear the number 26 for the Wolves,” the German Club announced.
Speaking on the signing of the defender, Wolfsburg sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz said, “We were specifically looking for a young, dynamic right-back with experience and development potential. Sael’s mentality also makes him a perfect fit for the team. We are delighted that he will be wearing the VfL jersey in the future.”
On his part, Sael Kumbedi said he is looking forward to playing in the German Bundesliga with his new club.
“The move to the Bundesliga is a great challenge for me. I’m looking forward to meeting many new faces and bringing my qualities to VfL. Wolfsburg gave me a very good feeling from the very first meeting,” he said as quoted on the Wolfsburg website.
