The head coach of Senegal, Souleymane Diallo, was left disappointed on Tuesday night after his side lost to Morocco in the semi-final of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The pulsating semi-final showdown between the North African side and the defending champions ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Moroccan players showed nerves of steel in the shootout to secure a 5-4 win and progress to the final.
Speaking in his post-match interview, the head coach of Senegal, Souleymane Diallo, expressed pride despite the defeat.
Although he bemoaned the cruelty of penalty shootouts, he expressed confidence in what the future holds for his young team.
“This is a young generation writing its first chapter. They played with courage and discipline. Penalties are always cruel, but our future remains bright,” the coach said as quoted on CAFOnline.
The final of CHAN 2024 will see an epic clash between Morocco and Madagascar on Saturday.
