Amath Ndiaye Diedhiou marked the start of Real Valladolid’s Liga 2 campaign in style, scoring twice in a commanding 3-0 victory over AD Ceuta on the opening weekend of the season.

The Senegalese international delivered a performance full of intent, striking just before half-time to put his side in control before adding a second early in the second period.

His brace ensured Valladolid began their push for promotion with an emphatic win and highlighted the winger’s determination to establish himself as a key figure this season.

Valladolid, playing in front of their home supporters, started the match with intensity but initially struggled to find a breakthrough against a disciplined Ceuta side.

The deadlock was finally broken just before the interval when Ndiaye timed his run perfectly and calmly slotted home, sending the stadium into celebration.

That goal shifted the momentum firmly in Valladolid’s favour, and the team came out after the restart with renewed confidence. Within 10 minutes of the second half, Ndiaye struck again, showing composure in front of goal to double the lead and place his side in complete control.

The second goal underlined not only his finishing ability but also his instinctive movement, which repeatedly troubled Ceuta’s defence throughout the evening.

Valladolid’s third came later in the match to seal the result, leaving the visitors with no way back and ensuring the hosts walked away with all three points.

For Ndiaye, it was a performance that demonstrated both his quality and his readiness to play a more central role this season.

The 28-year-old joined Valladolid last year after leaving Getafe but endured a frustrating first campaign in which opportunities were limited.

Despite his technical skills and pace, he found himself on the periphery of the squad, struggling to secure consistent playing time. However, his display on the opening day suggests the new season may offer him a fresh start.

Confidence is often crucial for attacking players, and Ndiaye’s brace will provide the perfect springboard. Scoring twice not only secured the win for his team but also sent a clear message to both the coaching staff and supporters: he is ready to make his mark.

For Valladolid, the victory represents an ideal beginning to their Liga 2 journey, as the club looks to push for a return to Spain’s top flight. Promotion is the clear target, and strong individual performances like Ndiaye’s will be vital in sustaining momentum across the campaign.

The Senegalese winger’s contribution also reflects the importance of experience in such competitive divisions. Having previously played in La Liga with Getafe, Ndiaye brings both knowledge and composure to a squad aiming to blend established talent with emerging players.

His ability to step up in decisive moments may prove invaluable as Valladolid battles through what promises to be a long and demanding season.

With the first three points secured and Ndiaye already among the early top scorers, optimism is high at the José Zorrilla Stadium. Supporters will hope that the opening-night heroics are a sign of things to come, both for their team’s promotion ambitions and for Ndiaye’s resurgence in Spanish football.
