Birmingham City interested in signing Malian midfielder Tanguy Coulibaly
English outfit Birmingham City are interested in signing France-born midfielder of Malian descent, Tanguy Coulibaly.
Coulibaly made the switch to Montpellier in 2023 on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart.
A graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain academy, the 24-year-old has since made 44 appearances for La Paillade, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
Following Montpellier’s relegation to Ligue 2, the club has already seen several departures, although fewer than many had anticipated. However, further exits are still expected before the window shuts, and Coulibaly could be among those heading for the exit door.
The Frenchman was absent from Montpellier’s opening Ligue 2 fixture on Friday night against Red Star, further fuelling speculation over his future. According to transfer insider Toubache-Ter, Birmingham City are showing strong interest in securing his services.
Coulibaly remains under contract with Montpellier until the summer of 2026, and Transfermarkt currently values the midfielder at €1.5 million.
