Cameroonian forward Faris Moumbagna draws interest from multiple Ligue 1 clubs amid Marseille uncertainty

Faris Moumbagna, the Cameroonian striker currently contracted to Olympique de Marseille, is attracting attention from a growing list of Ligue 1 clubs as his future at the club remains in doubt.

Brest, Lille, and Stade Rennais have reportedly joined Toulouse in expressing interest in the 23-year-old, whose situation at Marseille has taken a notable turn. Moumbagna has been dropped from the club’s first-team squad and is now training with the reserves, currently competing in France’s fifth-tier National 3 division.

The striker’s exclusion from the professional setup has sparked increased speculation over an imminent departure, with multiple French and European clubs monitoring developments closely. According to Africafoot, Greek side PAOK and other unnamed European teams are also weighing up a potential move for the Cameroonian forward.

Despite mounting interest, Spanish club Levante—initially among the contenders—has officially withdrawn from the race, having secured the signing of Goduine Koyalipou from RC Lens.

Their decision leaves the field open for French clubs to pursue a deal, with Toulouse believed to be the most proactive suitor at this stage. The club is reportedly considering a loan move for Moumbagna, although no formal offer has been submitted.

Moumbagna’s rapid fall from Marseille’s senior squad to the reserves has raised eyebrows, especially given his potential and flashes of promise since joining the Ligue 1 outfit.

While the reasons behind his demotion have not been made public, the player’s current status has made him a more accessible target for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Olympique de Marseille have yet to release an official statement regarding their plans for the striker, and the player himself has remained silent amid growing speculation.

However, his availability has made him one of the more talked-about potential moves within the French top flight this summer.

Still under contract, Moumbagna’s potential transfer fee and wage demands have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether Marseille would prefer a permanent deal or a temporary exit. For now, interested clubs are continuing to assess the feasibility of a deal as the player trains away from the first team.

Toulouse appears particularly keen on securing his services, especially with the club aiming to strengthen its attacking depth ahead of the 2025–26 campaign.

While interest from Brest, Lille, and Stade Rennais is confirmed, none of those clubs have yet taken concrete steps beyond monitoring the situation.

As the transfer window progresses, Moumbagna’s name remains firmly in the conversation. A move within Ligue 1 looks increasingly likely, though competition from abroad cannot be ruled out. What remains certain is that the Cameroonian forward’s time at Marseille may be nearing its conclusion, with several clubs ready to offer him a new start.
