West Ham United are on the brink of securing the signature of Senegalese forward Idrissa Gueye from Ligue 1 side FC Metz, with an agreement on personal terms already in place.

Sources familiar with the negotiations say the 24-year-old striker has agreed in principle to the terms offered by the Premier League club.

The transfer is now in its final stages, with talks between West Ham and Metz focused on finalising the details of the move.

While the financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, both sides are understood to be working towards a swift conclusion.

The move comes as West Ham prepare for life without long-serving forward Michail Antonio, whose departure from the London Stadium is expected to be confirmed shortly.

Antonio’s exit has prompted the Hammers to prioritise strengthening their attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Gueye, known for his pace, movement, and composure in front of goal, has been identified as a key addition to David Moyes’ squad.

Club insiders have indicated that West Ham are keen to complete the transfer well before the Premier League season kicks off, giving the Senegal international time to adapt to his new surroundings and integrate with his teammates during the final stages of pre-season.

The urgency reflects the club’s determination to avoid starting the campaign short of firepower, particularly after the loss of one of their most influential attackers.

Gueye has spent the past two seasons with Metz, where his performances in Ligue 1 have drawn attention from several clubs across Europe.

His ability to stretch defences and exploit space behind the back line has made him a consistent threat in the French top flight.

West Ham’s recruitment team are said to have been tracking the striker for months, viewing him as an ideal fit for the physical and fast-paced demands of English football.

While the transfer fee remains under wraps, reports in France suggest Metz were willing to negotiate once it became clear the player was open to a move.

The French side are believed to have accepted the inevitability of his departure, with West Ham offering a package considered competitive in the current market.

Should the deal be completed in the coming days, Gueye will become one of the Hammers’ headline summer signings, tasked with helping the club push for a strong domestic campaign and progress in European competition.

His arrival would also signal a continuation of West Ham’s recent strategy of recruiting younger, dynamic players capable of making an immediate impact while retaining long-term value.

For now, the final paperwork and formalities remain the only obstacles. If no unexpected issues arise, Idrissa Gueye could be unveiled at the London Stadium in the very near future, marking the beginning of a new chapter for both the player and the club.
