Yllan Okou has officially joined RAAL La Louvière on a three-year deal, with the Franco-Ivorian central defender pledging to establish himself as a key figure at the Belgian second-tier club.
The 22-year-old, formerly of SC Bastia, arrives as a free agent after opting to pursue what he described as a “clear, structured, and ambitious project” in Belgium.
The centre-back, who is valued at €800,000 by Transfermarkt, has signed a contract that ties him to the Wolves until 2028.
In an interview with 225foot, Okou laid out his ambitions in no uncertain terms, making it clear that his move to Belgium is about far more than simply continuing his career.
“I came here to make my mark, not just to play,” Okou declared. “I want to be a leader of this defence, help the team aim higher and show that I can become an important player on the European stage again.”
His comments reflect both confidence and vision, with the young defender determined to play a central role in RAAL La Louvière’s long-term project. He views the club as a springboard for his career and hopes to grow alongside his new teammates.
“I know where I come from and I know where I want to go,” he added. “RAAL offers me this springboard, I’m not here to be a figurehead. I want to be part of it for the long term, to help the club grow with my teammates.”
Okou also expressed his admiration for Belgian football, praising the league’s ability to nurture young talent. For him, this new chapter is as much about personal development as it is about team success.
“Belgian football is underrated. Yet, it’s a very educational sport, with many young talents emerging,” he explained. “I see it as a real opportunity to progress, build my skills, and, why not, aim higher with La Louvière.”
