Manchester United tracking Malian starlet Dan Sinaté ahead of breakthrough Ligue 1 season
Manchester United are closely monitoring rising Malian defender Dan Sinaté, currently on the books at Ligue 1 side Angers, as the Premier League club continues to scout emerging talent in European football.
The 19-year-old, who joined Angers in 2025 following stints in the youth academies of AS Monaco and Deportivo Alavés, signed his first professional contract with the French outfit last June.
With high expectations for the upcoming season, Sinaté is tipped to become a key figure for Angers in the 2025–26 campaign.
Scouts from Old Trafford have reportedly taken note of his recent performances, particularly during the Maurice Revello Tournament in June, where he impressed while representing Mali’s U23 side.
According to The Sun, his displays during the competition sparked renewed interest from Manchester United’s recruitment team.
Born in Chambray-lès-Tours, France, Sinaté initially played at youth international level for France, featuring for the U16 and U17 teams.
However, he recently committed his international future to Mali, making his debut for the West African nation earlier this year.
While the club has no immediate plans to submit a formal offer, United’s coaching staff, led by manager Ruben Amorim, are expected to keep a close watch on Sinaté’s development throughout the upcoming season.
The player’s versatility, capable of operating as a left-back, central defender, or even in midfield, is seen as a significant asset in the eyes of the Premier League side.
Sinaté’s youth record includes 40 appearances for Monaco’s U19s, during which he scored twice, and nine outings for Angers’ reserve side.
His adaptation to senior football will be closely monitored over the coming months, and a strong start to the campaign could prompt accelerated interest from United or other top European clubs.
Manchester United are not alone in tracking the young Malian. Should Sinaté deliver consistent performances with Angers’ first team, competition for his signature is likely to intensify as the 2026 transfer window approaches.
The Red Devils already boast a growing connection to Malian talent, with Sékou Koné having recently joined the club. Adding another high-potential Malian international to their squad would further reinforce United’s long-term recruitment strategy, which has increasingly focused on youth with international experience.
Sinaté’s potential arrival would also be influenced by Manchester United’s current left-back situation. Danish international Patrick Dorgu is expected to start the season as first-choice on the left flank, having impressed during the latter half of last season.
Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is being repositioned into central defence due to ongoing fitness concerns, and Harry Amass is reportedly set for a loan move to the Championship.
New signing Diego Leon, who arrived from Paraguayan side Cerro Porteño earlier in the summer, is currently viewed as Dorgu’s understudy. The 18-year-old made his debut in a pre-season match against Leeds United and is currently with the squad in the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, where he is expected to receive more minutes in upcoming friendlies against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
As the 2025–26 season unfolds, Dan Sinaté’s progress will remain under close observation. While no move is imminent, Manchester United’s interest signals a long-term view of recruitment, with the club continuing to scout some of the brightest young prospects in European football.
