Guinea international Dembo Sylla is on the verge of joining French Ligue 2 outfit in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old is joining Red Star FC on a season-long loan from Lorient and is expected to play an integral role for the club as they seek for promotion to the top-flight.
Sylla is a product of the Stade Lavallois academy, making his professional debut in August 2022. He made a total of 31 appearances for Laval before joining Lorient in July 2023. Sylla has struggled for game time since arriving, making only two senior appearances for the club.
In search of playing time, Sylla spent the second half of the 2023–24 campaign on loan at Rodez AF in Ligue 2. He left Lorient on loan again in August 2024 to join Belgian side FCV Dender EH on a season-long deal, where he made 19 appearances in the First Division A.
Meanwhile, his current contract with Lorient is expected to run out in summer 2028.
Sylla has also represented Guinea at senior level. Since making his debut in March 2023, he has earned nine caps for his country. With Lorient preparing for life back in Ligue 1, Sylla now looks set for his third successive loan spell away from the club.
