Glasgow Rangers have placed a valuation of between €15 million and €20 million on Ivorian midfielder Mohamed Diomandé, following a €7.5 million bid from Turkish giants Besiktas.
The 22-year-old, currently under contract with Rangers until June 2028, has attracted growing interest after a string of standout performances in the Scottish Premiership.
Since joining the Ibrox side, Diomandé has registered four goals and five assists across 31 league appearances, establishing himself as a key figure in the heart of the midfield.
Diomandé’s rapid development has not gone unnoticed. According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Besiktas have stepped up their pursuit of the Ivory Coast international with a formal offer, hoping to secure his services ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
However, Rangers are holding firm, signalling that they will not entertain negotiations for less than their stated asking price.
The midfielder began his career at the renowned Right to Dream Academy before moving to FC Nordsjælland in Denmark, where his performances earned him a move to Rangers.
Initially arriving on loan, Diomandé impressed enough during his temporary stint to convince the Scottish club to sign him permanently in the summer of 2024.
Rangers see Diomandé not only as a crucial part of their midfield engine room but also as a long-term investment, which helps explain their resistance to selling him cheaply.
His ability to dictate tempo, win duels, and contribute in the final third has made him a fan favourite and a trusted figure in the squad.
At just 22, Diomandé’s potential resale value is significant—something Rangers appear keenly aware of as they consider offers from abroad.
While Besiktas remains eager to bolster their midfield with a dynamic and experienced player, their opening bid falls considerably short of Rangers’ expectations.
Rangers’ position also reflects a broader trend in modern football, where clubs are more inclined to retain young talent with high upside rather than offload them prematurely.
With Diomandé’s contract running until 2028, the Scottish side is under no pressure to sell unless their valuation is met.
For Besiktas, Diomandé offers an attractive profile: youth, experience in European football, and a proven ability to contribute both defensively and offensively. But prising him away from Glasgow may prove costly unless the Turkish side is willing to increase its financial offer substantially.
As the transfer window progresses, much will depend on whether Besiktas returns with an improved bid and how determined they are to make Diomandé a part of their future plans.
For now, Rangers are in control of the situation—and they appear determined to retain one of their most promising midfielders unless a significant offer changes their stance.
