Olympique Marseille closing in on American-Liberian winger Timothy Weah
American international of Liberian descent, Timothy Weah is close to joining French Ligue 1 giants Olympique Marseille in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Weah, a Ligue 1 winner with Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC, has been receptive to Marseille’s interest and has reportedly already agreed on personal terms with the French club.
With Marseille advancing in talks with Juventus for the transfer of Weah on loan with a mandatory purchase option, the talented winger is expected to finalize a move back to France.
The French giants Marseille had tried to leverage Valentin Rongier into the deal, but the Serie A side were unmoved by the proposal.
Weah is expected to fill the void left by Luis Henrique following his move to Italian giants Internazionale Milan. Known for his versatility, the 25-year-old is expected to solidify Marseille’s squad for the upcoming 2025/26 football campaign should the deal go through.
The winger has made 44 appearances for the USA national team since making his debut in 2018, racking seven goals across the period.
