AS FAR explain decision to sell Akram Al-Naqqash to Khorfakkan Club
AS FAR have defended their decision to sell rising star Akram Al-Naqqash to UAE outfit Khorfakkan Club, amid growing criticism from the club’s supporters.
The Moroccan giants have faced backlash over the sale of the highly-rated youngster, but a club insider has clarified the reasoning behind the move.
“Akram Al-Naqqash joined the Royal Army on a free transfer, meaning the club didn’t pay any fee for him,” the source explained. “This transfer has brought in significant financial returns for the club, though we won’t disclose the exact figures.”
The source further revealed that the player himself pushed for the move: “The offer on the table was too good to turn down, and the player made it clear he wanted to pursue a professional career abroad. It was only right to respect his wishes.”
“Both financially and sportingly, AS FAR have benefited from this deal. Ultimately, it’s the club’s right to make decisions in the best interest of its future. We never stand in the way of a player eager to move on, and we wish Akram the very best in his new challenge.”
Meanwhile, AS FAR fans continue to urge the club’s hierarchy to make high-profile signings this transfer window, with hopes of reclaiming the Moroccan league title and making a deep run in the CAF Champions League.
