South African midfielder Lehlogonolo George Matlou has signed a short-term contract extension with Kaizer Chiefs.
The 26-year-old’s contract with the Soweto giants expired last month, but the club has agreed to renew his contract ahead of the new campaign.
Previously, Kaizer Chiefs had planned to part ways with the midfielder at the expiration of his contract. In a dramatic turn of an event, the club has decided to extend Matlou’s stay.
Over the past three seasons, Matlou has made just 40 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs and won one trophy — the South African Cup.
Having renewed his contract with the Soweto giants, George Matlou is expected to play a huge role for the club in the upcoming football campaign.
Kaizer Chiefs are poised to make a meaningful impact next campaign, having ended their trophyless last term, with the FA Cup triumph.
