Masry part ways with coach Ahmed Sami after five-game winless run
Egyptian Premier League side Masry have parted ways with head coach Ahmed Sami by mutual consent following a disappointing run of results in the domestic competition.
The club announced the decision on Friday, two days after their 1-1 draw against NBE Club left them 11th in the league standings with nine points from eight matches.
The result extended Masry’s winless run in the league under Sami to five matches, with the team collecting just three points during that period.
In a statement, the Port Said-based club confirmed the termination of Sami’s contract alongside his technical staff.
“The board of directors of Masry Club has terminated the contractual relationship with Ahmed Sami, the first-team coach, and his technical staff by mutual consent, wishing them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
Sami’s spell began with consecutive defeats against Suez Petrojet and Ittihad of Alexandria before Masry recorded three successive draws against Canal SC, Abu Qir Fertilizers and NBE Club.
His only victory during his tenure came against Ceramica Cleopatra in the Egypt Capital Cup.
The 53-year-old was appointed in early September to replace Emad El-Nahhas, who was dismissed despite guiding Masry to the Egypt Capital Cup title last season.
That triumph was the club’s first major trophy since winning the Egypt Cup in 1998.
Sami had previously coached Modern Sport, taking charge in December 2025 after a brief spell with Ittihad of Alexandria.
Masry will now look to regroup ahead of their Egypt Capital Cup second-round encounter against Petrojet on Wednesday.
