Newcastle United have submitted a formal €50 million offer for Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Edmond Tapsoba, signalling their strong intent to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the new season.
However, the Bundesliga club is standing firm in its desire to keep the Burkinabé international, who remains a key part of their long-term project.
The 26-year-old has emerged as one of Europe’s most consistent and composed defenders, attracting interest from across the continent. His calmness under pressure, ability to build from the back, and excellent positioning have made him a cornerstone of Leverkusen’s recent success.
