Orlando Pirates considering signing Malian midfielder Sadio Kanouté

Orlando Pirates have set sights on securing the services of Mali international Sadio Kanouté in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Soweto giants are bent on strengthening their squad for the 2025/26 football campaign, following a trophyless run last term, with Kanouté emerging as a priority target.

The South African powerhouse is reportedly ready to make an offer of €500,000 to secure his signature. Pirates are impressed by his physicality and technical ability — key attributes for a central midfielder.

Kanouté last featured for Algerian outfit, JS Kabylie, making 13 appearances in the second tier league and scoring one goal.

Should the deal go through, Kanouté would become the club’s ninth signing of the current summer window. Orlando Pirates are determined to build a competitive squad, and quality reinforcements are a priority.
