South African international Thibang Phete is on the verge of joining Kaizer Chiefs in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Soweto giants are poised to augment their squad for the new season, following an inconsistent performance in the recently concluded campaign.
Despite ending their 10-year trophy drought, the club missed out on the top eight in the South African League, prompting massive squad augmentation heading into the new campaign.
According to report, the 30-year-old central defender, a player with Bafana Bafana experience, is set to join Kaizer Chiefs as a free agent.
Phete made his return to professional football in March. After recovering from a serious injury, he signed with Icelandic side Vestri, played in seven out of a possible twelve matches, and made a solid impression.
With negotiation reportedly in the final stages, the enterprising defender is expected to seal a move to the Soweto giants.
