Cameroonian right-back Wilfried Ndollo Bille in high demand as Ligue 2 and Belgian clubs circle Montpellier talent

Wilfried Ndollo Bille’s rise through the ranks at Montpellier has not gone unnoticed, with several Ligue 2 and Belgian clubs expressing serious interest in securing the services of the promising Cameroonian right-back.

The 20-year-old, who joined Montpellier from the Cameroon Football Academy in August 2023, made his professional breakthrough at the end of last season, featuring in eight Ligue 1 matches.

Despite the club’s relegation, Ndollo Bille’s performances stood out, marked by his maturity, defensive discipline, and attacking boldness down the flank.

Clubs including SC Bastia, Stade Lavallois, and Rodez AF are closely tracking the defender’s situation.

Belgian sides have also entered the picture, identifying the young international hopeful as a viable long-term investment.

His market value, currently estimated at €200,000 by Transfermarkt, makes him a realistic target for clubs operating under tighter budgets but looking for top-tier potential.

Montpellier, however, are not inclined to part ways with the rising star.

Following their relegation to Ligue 2, the Hérault-based outfit views Ndollo Bille as a key figure in their immediate plans to mount a return to Ligue 1.

Sources close to the club indicate that only a significant offer would be enough to prompt a sale, especially with the defender considered one of the brightest prospects emerging from their system.

“Wilfried has shown tremendous character and ability for someone so early in his career,” a club insider remarked. “He’s part of the future we’re building, and there’s no rush to let him leave.”

Ndollo Bille featured in a total of 19 matches across all competitions last season, splitting his time between the reserve side and the senior team.

His smooth transition to first-team football has strengthened Montpellier’s resolve to retain him, particularly as they restructure for the demands of second-tier competition.

With his combination of technical skill, speed, and tactical awareness, Ndollo Bille has become a player to watch in the French football landscape.

His trajectory reflects a broader trend of European clubs increasingly tapping into talent from African academies, with the Cameroonian defender now poised to take the next significant step in his young career — whether that remains in southern France or elsewhere remains to be seen.
