Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Moroccan Football Federation, together with Abdel Salam Belqchour, President of the Professional League, and in the presence of representatives from all league clubs across divisions and categories, have officially announced the start dates for the upcoming football season, describing it as an exceptional campaign.
Contrary to earlier rumours suggesting an August 1 kickoff, the league will now begin on August 23.
The season will feature extended breaks, the details of which will be announced later, due to Morocco’s national team participating in the CHAN tournament that same month, as well as the Arab Championship in Qatar.
Additionally, there will be a month-long pause at the end of the year to accommodate Morocco’s hosting of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Due to this packed schedule, matches will be played every three days, creating a demanding fixture list.
The league is scheduled to conclude by mid-May 2025 to allow the Atlas Lions to prepare for their World Cup campaign in America, following Morocco’s near qualification for a third consecutive tournament
