Real Madrid to Rest Cristiano Ronaldo Amid Muscle Concerns
Real Madrid have confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will be given a rest period following muscle problems, sidelining the Portuguese star until mid-September. The decision comes shortly after Ronaldo was named European Player of the Year, an accolade awarded earlier this week.
According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Ronaldo was withdrawn from training on Tuesday, the day after Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Córdoba. The club have opted to prioritize the striker’s recovery ahead of a busy schedule, with Ronaldo expected to return for the highly anticipated Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid on 13 September.
Ronaldo’s absence also extends to international duty, as Portugal coach Paulo Bento omitted him from the squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying matches, citing the player’s ongoing muscle issues.
The 29-year-old forward’s temporary break highlights Real Madrid’s cautious approach to managing one of football’s most prolific goal scorers, ensuring he remains fit for the crucial stages of the season.
