Cameroonian defender Enzo Boyomo emerges as target for Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have identified CA Osasuna’s Enzo Boyomo as a key target as they look to reinforce their defence ahead of their Europa League campaign next season.

The 22-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a standout year in La Liga, making 37 league appearances for Osasuna during the 2024/25 season and scoring twice.

Notably, Boyomo started in 92% of those matches, underlining his consistency and reliability at the heart of the Spanish side’s back line.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Crystal Palace reportedly among several clubs expressing firm interest in acquiring his services.

The Premier League club has been monitoring Boyomo closely as part of their summer recruitment strategy.

Manager Oliver Glasner is said to be particularly keen on adding a physically strong and tactically disciplined central defender to his squad, with Boyomo fitting the profile.

The Cameroonian international has steadily built his reputation in Spain, demonstrating maturity beyond his years.

His composure on the ball, aerial presence, and positional awareness have been central to Osasuna’s defensive structure this past season.

As a result, he has emerged as one of the most promising defenders in La Liga outside the traditional top clubs.

Boyomo’s rise has attracted interest beyond Selhurst Park. Aston Villa and Turkish champions Galatasaray are also reported to be tracking the player’s situation, setting the stage for a potential transfer battle this summer.

Villa, with their own European ambitions, and Galatasaray, perennial participants in continental competition, see Boyomo as a long-term investment.

Osasuna, however, are unlikely to let him go without a fight. The club has placed a €25 million release clause on the defender—significantly higher than his current estimated market value of €20 million, as listed by Transfermarkt.

This signals the Spanish side’s intent to retain or at least be fairly compensated for one of their most valuable assets.

Boyomo’s salary at Osasuna currently stands at €520,000 annually, a figure well within the reach of interested clubs.

Should a transfer materialise, the move would likely represent a significant step up both financially and competitively for the player, especially if it involves Premier League football and European exposure.

A former youth international for France before committing to the Cameroonian national team, Boyomo’s dual-nationality background and multicultural football education have contributed to his adaptable playing style.

While still developing, he is already being viewed by scouts as a defender with the potential to thrive in more physically demanding leagues.

With Palace preparing to compete on multiple fronts in the upcoming season, defensive depth will be vital. Whether they are willing to meet Osasuna’s asking price remains to be seen, but their pursuit of Boyomo signals clear intent to strengthen with quality rather than quantity.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Boyomo’s future will likely be a subject of ongoing speculation, with several clubs ready to make a move should Osasuna show any willingness to negotiate.
